Description
This wide-brimmed 1950s spring or summer hat features a dome- or saucer-shaped brim in off-white eyelet lace, with a shallow crown in navy blue rayon velvet. Navy velvet trim covers the edge of the wired brim and the hatband is made of matching navy velvet cord, tied in cute bows on each side. A band of scalloped lace trim circles the crown above the velvet cord. The cotton or cotton-blend floral eyelet brim fabric is backed with a stiff muslin-like mesh material to help keep its rigid shape, which is blocked into indentations on each side. The brim is widest at the front and narrows at the back. The shallow, rounded crown of the hat is lined with navy taffeta and has a wired, velvet-covered circle around its underside, with 2 wired loops to help hold the hat in place when worn. This sweetly feminine, wide-brim 1950s hat is in good, totally wearable condition. There is some very faint discoloration to the eyelet fabric of the brim, a few minor creases to the fabric of the crown from storage, and some wear to the velvet covering the tips of the wired loops. None of these issues is likely to be very visible, but I have tried to show them in multiple close-up photos, for reference.
