Description
These bright white cotton, deadstock 1960s clamdiggers or pedal pusher pants are a classic summer style! A bit of nautical influence shows in the white rope and black vinyl belt that cinches the pants’ fitted waist. They have straight legs and a below-the-knee length, with small slits at each side seam. The pants fasten at the left side seam with a metal zipper hidden in the left slit pocket and a single button. Vertical darts shape the hips in front and back, below the narrow waistband. The pants have a relatively curvy, mid-century style shape, with a high, fitted waist, a long rise, and moderately full hips. I have shown the pant both clipped and unclipped form the mannequin, to give a better idea of actual size. The mid-weight, crisp, white plain weave cotton fabric is unlined. In very good condition, these true vintage early 1960s cropped clamdigger pants or pedal pushers were never worn, but were gently laundered by me for freshness. They have one small area of faint yellowing at the left side of the waistband, probably from being stored for so many years with the black vinyl of the belt touching the fabric (see close-up photos). I have not attempted to bleach this spot, but it will most likely be removable, since the pants are luckily made of a sturdy fabric in a bright white color.
