Description
A swingy 1950s black wool coat, this winter-weather beauty has a knit wool-backed lining, to keep out the chill! The twill weave, fine black wool is a deep, true black (lightened in a few of my photos to show more detail). The coat fastens with 2 covered buttons below its rounded collar. More covered buttons trim the fabulous, turned-up cuffs finishing the tapered full-length sleeves. The coat has 2 slit pockets in front, at about waist height. Its overall shape is gently flared from bust to hem, and is intended for a loose fit except at the shoulders, where it is shaped by vertical darts in front and parallel rows of vertical seaming at the back of the neck. The black rayon satin lining is backed with a fuzzy wool inner lining, as mentioned above, for extra warmth. It’s like wearing a hidden blanket! In excellent condition, this true vintage 1950s ladies’ coat appears hardly worn, and has been freshly dry-cleaned. Its fits a bit loosely on me (modern size 6 petite), over several layers of clothing, so I estimate that it will fit a modern size small to medium. Please check the measurements below, and feel free to contact me with any questions about fit.
