Description
This deadstock vintage, mod 1960s 2-piece pantsuit pairs an A-line tunic top and cropped straight-leg pant, both in orange-red ribbed double-knit polyester. The tunic top could also be worn as a micro-mini dress over tights, if you dare! The top features short sleeves, a rounded collar, and button-trimmed diagonal patch pockets at each hip. It has a slightly shaped waist, flaring gently from waist to the hem. The topstitched center-front vertical seam creates subtle visual interest, against the diagonally ribbed fabric background. The tunic fastens in back with a nylon zipper. The straight leg pant is cropped to above the ankle on my tall mannequin, maybe more like ankle-length on a shorter person. The mid-rise pants have some elastic in the waist, but they need to pull on over the hips. Since the double knit fabric doesn’t have a lot of give to it, I estimate best fit will be for a less curvy, more narrow-hipped person. Both pieces of the set are unlined, with a smoother surface to the back of the ribbed fabric. In excellent condition with its original hangtag, this space-age style, mod 1960s 2-piece outfit has only one minor thing to note: the elastic at the pant waist might have been more stretchy, when new.
