Description

This might be one of my favorite vintage novelty border prints ever! A 1960s dress in hot orange-red cotton, this beauty features a print of 2 different sets of medieval figures: a fabulously dressed man and lady arm-in-arm, and 2 lovely ladies gathering flowers. These same flowers repeat all over the fabric, and even more flowers adorn the trellised border, at the skirt and sleeve hems. This trellised or floral latticework border section of the fabric is also used for the wide inset waist panel, reaching from the natural waist to the ribcage. The dress bodice is shaped by vertical darts above this waist panel. It has a deep V neckline and narrow, bracelet-length sleeves. The knee-length skirt is gathered where it meets the waist, creating its semi-full silhouette. The lightweight cotton percale fabric is unlined except for the waist panel, which is lined with red-orange acetate taffeta. The dress fastens in back with a nylon zipper and one hook. The print has been well utilized, and placed: I especially like the placement of the ladies on the outside of each sleeve. This fun and flowery, medieval novelty print 1960s dress is in excellent condition, with no flaws to note.
