Description
A dark navy blue wool tuxedo tailcoat from the 1950s, this elegant piece of men’s formalwear is a single-breasted style with silk satin, peaked lapels. The fishtail back is pleated on each side of a single vent. The strong, squared shoulders have medium-sized shoulder pads. The crisp worsted wool is relatively lightweight, for wearing in all seasons. The tailcoat is lined with black rayon satin, and has 1 outer and 1 inner chest pocket. The plastic buttons trimming the front, back and sleeves of the coat are an olive-brown shade, probably faded from their original navy blue color. In very good condition, the jacket has only 1 other minor issue: very slight wear to the fabric at the inner edge of the collar at the center back (see close-up photo of label). By nature, tuxedo tails are unisex. I have shown this jacket on my female mannequin, since it is a men’s small to medium that will fit approximately a chest size 38. For you taller folks, please note the shorter-length sleeves, ending just above the wrist on my lady mannequin. Whether you are wearing this 1950s navy blue tux tailcoat to a formal event or for Regency cosplay, it has been freshly dry-cleaned and is ready to wear.
