Description
This khaki and navy blue pinstripe, mod 1960s wool knit skirt suit utilizes the striped pattern on the diagonal to add visual interest: trimming the round neckline, button placket, sleeve cuffs and hem, as well as on the 4 pointed belt loops. The 2 large patch pockets underneath the front belt loops are almost hidden from view, so perfectly are they pattern-matched to the body of the jacket! The hip-length jacket has a boxy fit, with straight, bracelet-length sleeves and a row of gray shell buttons to close it, hidden behind the placket. The knee-length pencil skirt has a ribbed knit waistband, and small darts to shape the hips in front and back. The skirt fastens with a nylon side zipper and hook at the waistband. The mid-weight wool knit fabric has a little bit of stretch to it, as seen in my range of measurements. The jacket is unlined and skirt is lined with lightweight, tan acetate taffeta. Although the suit did not come with a belt and looks just fine without one, I think a 1960s-style chain link belt would look fabulous threaded through the decorative belt loops. In very good condition, freshly dry-cleaned, the suit has 2 small, partial (not all the way through the fabric) moth munches: 1 on the right shoulder and 1 on the right forearm (see close-up photo). There are no other issues to note with this stylish and versatile, mod-tastic 1960s wool knit suit.
