Description

This disco diva dress from the late 1970s or early 1980s combines slinky polyester jersey knit fabric and dramatic draping! The magenta or fuchsia jersey is gathered at the plunging V neckline, where one side of the bodice is inserted through a small slit in the other to create a twisted, wrap skirt effect. The fabric inserted through the slit then drapes in a gathered cascade to the hem, wrapping over the flat under-layer of the skirt. Both layers of the skirt have a lettuce hem. The front waist seam curves in a U shape, down from each side of the center front twist to the side seams. The back side of the dress has no waist seam, to skim over the bodice with no break from neck to hem. The narrow, bracelet-length sleeves are slightly tapered, with small gathers at the the shoulders. The lightweight jersey fabric is unlined, with a bit of give/stretch to it, but not a lot (see measurements). A single snap to secure the positioning of the twisted drape at the center front is the only fastening; the dress is designed to pull on over the head. Please note: it is not a true wrap dress, since the wrap/twist at the front does not open. A fabulous disco-era dress in a striking shade of red-toned purple, this late 70s or early 80s stunner is in excellent condition.
