Description
This late 1960s or early 1970s wooden box purse features a classic vintage crafty technique: decoupage! The medium brown wood handbag has an idyllic farm scene sealed onto its front panel, complete with Holly Hobby-esque girl in a bonnet on a tree-swing, a farm boy in the same style, a classic red barn and windmill, a cute bird and bunny, and a weird-looking squirrel. A gold-tone metal turn-lock clasp fastens the top of the purse. The rigid top handle is made of twisted coppery-brown lucite. 4 round feet are attached to the base. The bag is lined with emerald green felt. It opens wide enough to get your hand into easily, but not very wide, as you can see in my interior photo. In very good condition, this decoupage box purse from the 60s or 70s has one extra drop of sealant on its front upper corner, and a bit of tarnish to the metal of the hinge at its base. The farm landscape would pair well with your favorite prairie style vintage dress!
