Description

This ultra-feminine and subtly sexy sheer black chiffon and lace blouse dates from the late 1940s or early 1950s. A panel of lovely scalloped lace is set into the front of the blouse at the shoulders. It fastens down the front with ice-cube style clear glass buttons, from the pointed collar to the straight hem. Vertical darts shape the front and back waist. The bust area is gathered below the front shoulder yoke, to add fullness. The sleeves are semi-full, gathered at the shoulders as well as at the fitted cuffs, above a frill of lace trim. The cuffs also fasten with glass buttons, once of which is an era-appropriate replacement (see photos). The lightweight, sheer black rayon chiffon is unlined. In good, wearable condition, the blouse has several pinholes (1 below the collar in back and several at the back right shoulder), 2 small worn areas at the left elbow, and a few other picks in the chiffon fabric. I don’t think that these issues should be very noticeable when the blouse is worn—I suspect that folks will be more likely to notice what is underneath it! I have carefully hand-laundered the blouse, which I would recommend in future. Pair this sheer black 1950s blouse with your favorite pencil skirt or skirt suit, for a fabulous film-noir-style look!
