Description
This sleeveless blue cotton early 1950s novelty print dress has the cutest design of horses with floral sun hats and umbrellas! The black horses’ heads have both coral orange and bright yellow straw hats with daisies, and the polka dotted umbrellas or parasols are in these same two bright colors, plus china blue. The high, round neckline has 2 rows of piping trim. The center front of the bodice has rows of pleats from neckline to waist. Below the fitted waist seam, the skirt has flat pleats that add fullness. It is shown here without any added crinoline underneath. Diagonal darts shape the front bust area, and vertical darts in back shape the waist. 2 adorable, tiny bows trim the back of the neck, next to the metal zipper. The lightweight, plain-weave cotton fabric’s pastel blue background is slightly faded all over from age and normal laundering, plus there are some yellowed marks at the edges of each underarm. The matching belt is also yellowed and has a few faint rust marks. The pleated skirt has one faint rust mark in front and one very faint yellowed mark on the left side near the hem (see photos). The most likely of these issues to be noticed when the dress is worn is the rust mark on the front of the belt. This darling 1950s novelty print day dress is in good condition. It is quite sturdy and wearable, freshly laundered by me, with no odors.
