An early 1970s novelty print Hawaiian maxi in coral orange by Hilo Hattie’s, this flutter-sleeve, empire-waist dress features flocks of sea birds and round, shield-like designs that remind me of mosaics. The high-waisted bodice has a shallow V-neckline with gathers at the underbust seam adding fullness to the bust area. The short, flutter sleeves have a small pleat where they are attached to the bodice. Below the underbust seam, the dress is gently flared from waist to hem. The maxi closes in back with a nylon zipper. The lightweight polyester satin fabric is a wonderful shade of pinkish coral that I would call grapefruit juice, with darker orange accents and white designs. The dress is unlined and in excellent condition, with no issues to note.
