Description
This true vintage 1950s circle skirt features a harlequin print of aqua and black elongated diamonds—a mid-century fashion classic! The skirt has a fitted waistband, with lots of small pleats gathered into it to add fullness. The waistband fastens with a cute aqua plastic button, above the side seam metal zipper. The skirt is shown here with a very fluffy crinoline underneath, which is not included. The lightweight, plain weave cotton fabric is unlined. In good, sturdy, and quite wearable condition, the skirt does have some cosmetic flaws to note:
- 1 small gray spot at the upper left front (somewhat hidden in the pleats).
- Several tiny rust spots near the waistband (probably from being pinned to a hanger in storage).
- 3 faint marks near the front hem (see close-up photo of the most visible one).
- Overall wash-fade to the fabric.
- A lightened mark all around the hem, where it had been taken up in the past.
If taken back up, the shortened hem would mostly hide the 3 faint marks near the hem, along with the lightened mark all around the hem. I have left skirt as it is, so you can see this clearly. I feel that the skirt still presents well, and it is priced to reflect these issues. This vintage circle skirt has a very full sweep, and it will look its best with crinoline worn underneath. The color combo and the harlequin pattern are iconic 1950s!
