Description
The scalloped indentations carved into the outer edge of this golden yellow Bakelite bangle from the 1930s or 1940s create a rather unusual, sun- or star-shaped design. The carved design is alternated in its placement on each side of the bangle, giving the bracelet an almost ruffled appearance in cross section. In good condition, the surface of the bangle has some scuffs from regular wear—it may have been someone’s favorite! (see close-up photo). I have not seen this particular carved design before, in my over 25 years of selling vintage Bakelite jewelry.
