Description

The French designer Georges Rech opened his fashion house in 1962. According to the always-useful Vintage Fashion Guild Label Resource, he was “a pioneer in creating luxury Ready-to-Wear. In 1973, he developed the Synonyme brand, a line of clothing made up of coordinated pieces that complement others in the collection. In 1983, he created a third line, Unanyme.” This cotton jersey knit 80s sundress from his Unanyme label combines tomato red, gold, mushroom, and taupe horizontal stripes for a sporty yet chic, casual look! The dress fastens with enameled metal snaps from its square neckline to the hem. The bodice is cut fairly straight from the bust to the dropped waist seam, for a slightly loose fit at the natural waist. Below the dropped waist seam, tiny gathers add a bit of fullness to the calf-length skirt. Large patch pockets adorn each hip. The lightweight cotton jersey is unlined. Although Rech was a French designer, the dress is labeled as made in Italy. The straps look very long on my mannequin, because the bust is too large for her. On me (size 34B/6 petite), the bodice was just a bit loose, and neckline was a tiny bit low, but not uncomfortably so. I estimate this charming 80s sundress will suit a size 6 to 8, depending on your preferred fit at the bust—more loose, versus more tight. The last 2 photos show the dress bodice unpinned from the mannequin, to give a better idea of its size. It is in excellent condition.
