Description

This black patent vinyl, faux reptile-skin frame handbag from the 1960s has 2 top handles. The silver-tone metal frame is partially wrapped in the same textured black patent used for the body of the bag and the narrow straps: the front half is covered, but not the back. Next to the hinged clasp, the top of the bag’s frame is trimmed with metal squares designed to look like marcasite. The bag’s flat base allows it to stand upright, always a plus! The handbag is lined with black rayon satin, trimmed with silver piping on the inner slip pocket edge. A matching tiny coin purse is attached inside using elastic cord. It is hard to get a great photo of the inside of a black bag, but I think you can just make out the maker’s stamp, After Five. This 1960s black patent vinyl frame handbag is in excellent condition, and vegan-friendly! Please see my last photo for size and check the measurements: the bag is a bit smaller than typical frame bags of the era, probably intended as an evening bag.
