Description

This fitted, cropped 70s leather jacket by designer Etienne Aigner is in his signature shade of burgundy red or oxblood, soft and shiny leather. The style is reminiscent of the short, fitted-waist leather jackets popular in the 1930s and 1940s. The appliquéd arrow patches at the top and bottom of each inverted pleat (2 in front and 3 in back) are also inspired by that earlier era. The jacket has a wide pointed collar, a front and black shoulder yoke, straight sleeves with wide and pointy, fitted cuffs, and a wide waistband panel that flares out from waist seam to hem. The jacket closes in front with marbled fuchsia plastic buttons that are also used to close the sleeve cuffs. There are 2 extra original buttons attached inside the jacket hem. It is fully lined with rust-red rayon taffeta, printed with Aigner’s signature. Small brass-colored metal buckles trimming the straps at each shoulder feature Aigner’s other signature detail, a horseshoe emblem. In very good condition, the jacket has a small section of the taffeta lining at the front bottom edges only (on both sides of opening-see photos) that shows some wear. This will not be seen when it is worn. Otherwise, this soft and supple 1970s burgundy leather jacket looks great!
