Description
Designer Emmanuelle Khanh pioneered youth-focused, French ready-to-wear fashion in the 1960s along with her peers, including Sonia Rykiel, Paco Rabanne, and Michèle Rosier. After designing for other labels, Khanh started her own label, “Emmanuelle Khanh Paris” in 1971. Although she left the label in the late 90s, I believe that this circa 1990s hooded wool jersey knit tunic top dates from the period while she was still there. It combines nice quality fabric, clean lines, and a “space-age”, mod-inspired style that harks back to her design work in the 1960s. The top features a cowl neckline and small, fitted hood, made all-in-one piece, fastening with small buttons. The raglan sleeves are three-quarter-length and tapered from shoulder to hem. The body of the top is semi-fitted at the bust, and then flares out gradually from waist to hem. Casual, easy-to-wear, yet very chic! The lightweight cranberry red wool jersey fabric is unlined—great for layering! In very good condition, the top has 2 replacement buttons, clearly not original to the piece. If all of the buttons were replaced, this would be unnoticeable, of course. Labeled a size L, this 90s Emmanuelle Khanh pullover will fit like approximately a modern size M. Please check the measurements for more details. I have another version of this same top in pine green, listed here.
