Description

This novelty print silk scarf, circa late 1950s or early 1960s, features a darling design of an Edwardian London streetscape and square. Pedestrians, bicyclists, carriage drivers, and motorists share the road, along with screen-printed “scribble” trees and rows of townhouses. The scarf has a wide avocado green border, around the central scene in green, orange, and black on a creamy white background, with screen-printed white details. The large square scarf has hand-rolled edges. It can be tied a number of ways. I have shown a few, but feel free to imagine more, including as a headscarf, tied to a handbag, or even worn as a triangle top. In very good condition, the scarf has some dinginess along its fold lines and a few small, scattered light marks from its long storage. I have not attempted to spot treat these, since the scarf is otherwise clean, with no odors or any other issues to note. When the scarf is worn these marks will likely not be noticeable at all. This 1950s-60s screen-printed large square silk scarf would make a fun addition to your collection of vintage novelty prints or vintage scarves, with its cute Edwardian London street scene.
