Description
Never worn, denim side zip 1950s jeans by Universal Overall, in a larger size? Yes, indeed! This deadstock ladies’ 1950s pant in dark blue, 100 percent cotton Sanforized denim with bright orange topstitching was manufactured by Universal Overall--a workwear company founded in the US in 1924, and is still in operation today. The Steer Buster paper label (partially damaged but still really cool!) on the back of the jeans shows the influence of western-style clothing on the clothing market of the time. Western wear was popular then too! The metal side zip jeans have 2 front pockets with copper rivets and 2 back patch pockets. A pair of metal snaps allows the high waist to be adjusted by 1 inch. The straight leg jeans have a long rise, making the inseam appear shorter than it actually is (see side seam versus inseam measurements). This pair of classic 1950s ladies’ side zip jeans is in very good, unworn condition, with some small marks at the left leg hem from their long storage. The deadstock jeans have not been laundered, so the marks may improve a bit after their first washing. Labeled a vintage ladies’ size 40, they should fit approximately a modern size large, with a 37- to 38-inch flat waist—see below for more size details.
