Description
This late 1960s mini dress in a vibrant hot orange, bright pink, blue and green floral print has aqua blue smocked elastic topstitching gathering the fabric at the shoulders, the wrists, and above the flounced, mid-thigh-length hem. The smocking gives the middle of the fabulous statement sleeves a lantern-sleeve silhouette, extra full in the middle section. Below the wrist is a smaller flounce to match the wide one at the dress hem. The tunic-style dress is designed to have a loose fit at the bust and waist. The elastic smocking at the high hip area creates the look of a dropped waist seam, above the ruffled hem. The round neckline is relatively high, there are no bust darts, and the shoulders are quite small, so this dress will fit best for someone with a smaller chest and torso—it was probably a junior or teen size, originally. The lightweight, plain weave floral fabric feels like cotton, but it is almost certainly a cotton and acetate blend. I would recommend hand-washing separately, in case of any dye bleed and to protect the elastic stitching from any damage. The dress is unlined, and fastens in back with a nylon zipper. In very good condition, the dress has one flaw to note: the elastic stitching in the smocking at the left wrist is more loose/stretched out than on the right. This could be repaired, but I do not think it is terribly noticeable, as it is now. This groovy late 1960s mini dress is a boho hippie dream, in a black-light-ready print!
