Description
A simply chic, bright tomato red 1960s dress, this sleeveless sheath style can be dressed up or down, to wear almost anywhere! The dress is made of a mid-weight, linen-textured fabric with a slight sheen to its surface, in a blend of what I believe is rayon and acetate. Subtle design elements include a curved seam around the neckline, and L-shaped seams from the top of the shoulders to the waist, framing the wide, flat front pleat of the skirt. Tiny gathers below the fitted waist seam (except at the center-front flat pleat) add a hint of fullness to the hips of the gently flared skirt, which is intended to have a somewhat loose fit. This waist seam is raised about 1 inch above the natural waist (see measurements). The dress is fully lined in a silky acetate or acetate blend fabric, and fastens in back with a metal zipper, plus 2 hooks and eye at the back of the neck. This warm-toned lipstick red, mod 1960s dress is in excellent condition, with no flaws to note. It did have very faint underarm discoloration when I received it, but this was removed by a careful soak before I had it dry-cleaned. In future, I would recommend dry-cleaning rather than laundering for this fabric, which could have a tendency to shrink when wet.
