Description
This elegant black wool knit 1960s shift dress can go from workday wear to a cocktail party with ease! The very clean-lined, mod style dress features vertical seaming in front, from the sides of the bust to the hem. The small front neckline yoke ends just above the bust, with 2 tiny darts below it. 2 rhinestone and silver-tone metal star pins are attached to tiny pleats at the the sides of the round neckline, above the cap sleeves. Taking its inspiration from Coco Chanel’s tubular-shaped little black dresses of the 1920s, this 1960s LBD will be very versatile and great for travel, since wool knit fabric doesn’t wrinkle much, if at all. The mid-weight, double knit wool fabric is fine enough to be just slightly sheer if held up to the light. It is unlined. The dress fastens in back with a nylon zipper. The tiny star brooches can be removed easily for cleaning, and can also be replaced with something else if you prefer. They came to me with the dress, and are definitely mid-century vintage, but may not be original to it. This true vintage 1960s shift dress is in excellent condition with a bit of yellowing to its label, but no other issues to note. I have recently had it dry-cleaned, which I would recommend for this fabric in future.
