Description
A mid-century sheath style dress from the late 1950s, this “wiggle dress” has vertical panels of rose-patterned floral lace set into its front, from the scoop neckline to the hem. The lace panels are lined with peachy-blush acetate taffeta, to create a “nude” effect. The body of the dress is made of semi-sheer, lightweight slubbed fabric that is probably a blend of acetate and rayon. It has short sleeves, and a fitted, hourglass silhouette with darts for shaping. The narrow skirt has a small kick pleat at its back hem. Unlined except at the lace panels, the dress fastens in back with metal zipper. This true vintage 1950s sheath dress has thread belt loops, but its original belt is missing. Otherwise, it is in excellent condition, with no issues to note. My last photo shows the dress unclipped from the mannequin--she does not have quite enough hips to fill it out completely.
