Description
A fabulously fringed 1940s cocktail dress in black rayon crepe: you can channel your inner film noir femme fatale character in this one, think! The late 1940s dress has a round neckline, large squared shoulder pads, bracelet-length, tapered sleeves with single snaps at each cuff, and bust darts for shaping. Below the fitted waist seam, the skirt looks fairly straight from the front side, but at the center back it has an soft, inverted pleat to add volume and create a fishtail hem. The rayon fringe is attached to a self-fabric panel that runs straight across the bodice from bust to shoulder in front only. The fringed panel across the hips is straight in front, but diagonal in back, stopping at the edges of the inverted pleats. The lightweight rayon crepe fabric is unlined. The dress fastens with a metal zipper at the back. In excellent condition, freshly dry-cleaned, the only things to note about this lovely 1940s fringed dress are that it is missing its original belt, and that the shoulder pads may be replacements, since they do not match the dress fabric.
