This early 1960s dress in black cotton eyelet lace has circles that remind me of donuts—or maybe I’m just hungry? Speaking of food, this is a fabulous date night dress, not extremely fancy but pretty enough to wear for cocktails and dinner, or to a semi-formal, spring-summer evening event. The sheer eyelet lace is fully lined with an attached black cotton slip; only the cap sleeves and the upper part of the bodice are see-through. A large, sparkling, decorative rhinestone buckle trims the front of the straight skirt, with a small length of velvet ribbon threaded through it. The neckline, sleeves and back opening of the bodice are trimmed with black cotton piping, with at tiny bow adorning the hook closure at the back of the neck. The bodice has a slightly blouson fit, gathered gently where it meets the waist seam. A metal zipper fastens the dress in back. It is in excellent condition.
