What could be prettier than this ballet pink tulle 1950s party dress? With a double layer of pale pink tulle layered over a peachy pink taffeta lining, this sweet 1950s tea-length formal is the definition of feminine! The fitted, boned bodice is held up by pink rayon velvet straps. The matching velvet skinny sash belt can be tied around the waist, but the ends are fairly short—I like it better tied at the neck as choker, as shown. Curving seams shape the bodice. The skirt is quite full, shown here with an additional crinoline underneath, which is not included. The dress closes with a side seam metal zipper. The 2 tulle layers of the skirt are trimmed rather than hemmed, as is normal for this type of dress. The bodice is a bit long-waisted. You can see that the straight-across waist seam hits just below the natural waist on my mannequin. So, the dress likely will fit better for a tall (or longer-waisted) person—definitely not a petite. It was probably home-sewn, based on the method of attaching the boning inside the bodice (see inside photo). The dress has some slight ombré fading or color change on the taffeta skirt lining, appearing a bit paler at the hem than it is higher up. There is 1 small mend in the tulle just below the zipper. Also, there 2 small areas on the left front bodice where the 2nd outer layer of tulle is missing. These small holes are quite hard to see, even when examining very closely, although you can feel them if you run your hand over the fabric. In very good condition, freshly dry-cleaned and completely wearable, this darling 1950s pink tulle party dress has no other issues to note.
