Description
A late 1930s novelty print blouse in lovely, lightweight rayon crepe, this beauty features an Asian-inspired design of fans and flowers. Shades of bright yellow, orange-red, soft blue and moss green pop against the black background. The flared, bracelet-length sleeves have small shoulder lifts that create a slight puff at the shoulders. The blouse fastens in front with tiny snaps. It opens diagonally from the rounded neckline to bust, and then straight down from bust to hem. The tiny, red celluloid rosebud buttons are decorative. A narrow peep of the yellow silk or silk-blend lining fabric shows at the hems of each sleeve. The body of the blouse and the lower sleeves are lined, but not the upper part of the sleeves. The top has a flared shape from bust to hem, but the shoulders are quite small and narrow. Therefore, I estimate that it will fit best for a modern size XS, but please check the shoulder width measurement carefully. Freshly dry-cleaned and ready to wear, the blouse is in very good condition, with a few minor issues as shown in my close-up photos: a very minor bit of dye bleed and 2 tiny rust-colored marks. This 1930s novelty print blouse or lightweight jacket would look great with a wide-leg lounge pajama style pant, as well as with a skirt or over your favorite sleeveless dress.
